- Talking about your ex. That's what therapist and friends are for.
- Talking constantly about your children, work or yourself. Not
romantic topics and can definitely ruin the mood.
- Don't relax, have fun or laugh. Ask yourself why he'd want to
be with you and why you're there.
- Obviously husband hunting or gold digging. Shallow, shallow, shallow.
What you hunt and dig for may not be what you get.
- Dressing or acting like a teenager. Unless you are one, it's a
turn off. Most real men want real women.
- Dancing or flirting with other men while on a date. Best way to
lose someone you care about.
- Picking at food instead of eating it. Why did you order it? Sure
way not to be invited to dinner again.
- Discussing personal issues such as health, finances or family
problems. Much too private to bring up on first dates. Keep it
simple and fun.
- Not willing to experience new things. You'll miss out on many
of the best things in life.
- Being a discourteous smoker. Shows a lack of respect.
- Insist on paying for the date and making a scene. If the offer
is declined, be gracious and grateful.
- Rushing the relationship for a commitment. Hard to do while he's
running for the door. Surest way to ruin the future.
- Loud obnoxious talking and laughing. How do you think it sounds?
Bellying up to the bar perhaps?
- Insist on making all the dating decisions. Sounds like a compromising,
compatible lion tamer.
- Arriving late or not being on time when the date arrives. Plain
outright disrespectful. Never knew a man who liked it.
- Chewing, snapping or popping gum. Mooooooo Cow
- Ordering wine by the bottle not the glass. Should be discussed
and agreed upon by both.
- Ordering new foods or too much and then not eating it. Hey, who's
paying for it?
- Discouraging men from doing gentlemanly acts. Are you planning
not to act like a lady?
- Putting lipstick or makeup on at the table. What do you think
ladies rooms are for?
- Expecting intimacy before friendship. Only in animal breeding
farms.
- Wearing too much makeup or perfume. Unless you're on stage, it's
a turn off.
- Under dressed or over dressed for the occasion. Don't be afraid
to ask what's appropriate. Better to ask than be wrong.
- Argumentative or self righteous in conversations. Sounds confrontational
and not headed in a positive direction.
- Bad oral hygiene. Better for you to figure it out before he tells
you.
- Inviting friends along on the date. Obviously you don't want to
have a special time or get to know him.
- Suggesting or assuming children are welcome on the date. Why would
you want to? This is an adult thing.
- Monopolizing the conversation. Do you think you're that special?
- Asking personal questions. That's what his mother's for. Back
off.
- Drinking too much before a date or while on a date. Better to
be honest with him and admit you're vulnerable and shy than be
drunk.
- Negative attitude about themselves or their date. If you're that
way, you probably don't even like yourself. Why would he?
- Talking with your mouth full of food. Reminds him of grade school.
- Prejudging the date before you get to know him. Big mistake. Let
him unfold before you. It's like unwrapping a present.
- Acting as though your job or education makes you better than others.
Can those things really make you any better than someone else?
- Wearing sandals or open toed shoes without manicured feet. You'd
be surprised at the number of men who have a foot fetish.
- Being dishonest about your personal life. Is it worth it when
he finds out the truth?
